Okazaki Toshogu Ryujou Shrine

A shrine located on the site of Okazaki Castle. It enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu as the primary deity and also honors Honda Tadakatsu. It is known as one of the Toshogu shrines.

What visitors say
Located right next to Okazaki Castle, the shrine offers scenic views where you can photograph the worship hall and torii gate alongside the castle landscape. The grounds feature a garden, which is highly praised for its beauty during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The shrine office offers Omamori (protective amulets), handwritten Goshuin (shrine seal stamps), and seasonal limited-edition Goshuin.
由来
- •徳川家康公生誕の地であり、家康公ゆかりの「龍神の井」「産湯の井」「東照公胞衣塚」が現存しています。
- •創建は不明ながら、城の鎮守として龍神が祀られたという神秘的な伝説が残されています。
- •徳川家康公と本多忠勝公という、江戸時代の礎を築いた二人の偉人を主祭神として祀っています。
- •1914年（大正三年）に県社に昇格し、神饌幣帛料供進神社に指定されるなど、歴史的に格式の高い神社です。
- •社殿再建時には日光東照宮から神木が寄進されるなど、由緒ある神社との繋がりも深いのが特徴です。
