It became a Kosha (village shrine) in the early Meiji period and was elevated to a Kensha (prefectural shrine) in Taisho 12 (1923 CE). Within the grounds stands a five-story pagoda and a small shrine dedicated to 'Okita-hime,' associated with legends of human sacrifice (hitobashira).
