History
It is said that during the Tenpyo era (729-748 CE), a wandering warrior named Ranji Keimon from Uji, Yamashiro Province, brought soil from Izumo Taisha (Izumo Grand Shrine) and established a small shrine. Later, in 1357 CE (Bunmei 2), Ashikaga Motouji rebuilt it. In 1527 CE (Daei 7), the local lord, Hichimune Munetsune, restored it, and it became the guardian deity of Hita Village. In 1864 CE (Genji 1), it received the title of Myojin of the First Rank, and from the beginning of the Meiji era, it was renamed Omishasho Shrine.
