History
Legend states that the shrine was founded in 767 CE (Shinju-Kiun 1). A monk named Shodo visited the area during an epidemic and used a giant cedar tree as a sacred barrier (shinboku) to enshrined the kami of Omiwa Shrine, thereby saving the people. This act led to the worship of the deity as 'Anba-sama'. Additionally, due to miracles attributed to the divine power of Tsuchigumo Kaito, a retainer of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and its connection to tengu (mythical goblin-like beings) beliefs, it is also referred to as the 'only Dream-Matching Daimyojin in Japan'.
