History
This temple of the Shingon Hyossan-shu sect was founded in the late Sengoku period by the monk Yuken. It originally enshrined the King of Yama (Yama-ō) as its principal image, but in 1712, a statue of Jizō Bosatsu (the Bodhisattva of Compassion) was brought to the temple and became the current principal image. The current main hall was rebuilt in 1972.
