History
Founded during the Tenpyō Shōhō era by the monk Hōon Daishi. In the Edo period, influenced by the Hanabusa clan, the lords of Bitchū Takamatsu, the temple converted from the Tendai sect to Nichiren Buddhism. In 1951 CE (Shōwa 26), it became the head temple of the Saimon-ha sect of Nichiren Buddhism. Most of the current buildings and stone walls were reconstructed by Jōshin-in Nigo, who passed away in 1905 CE (Meiji 38).
