Ryufukuji (Dragon Fortune Temple)

坂戸市戸口453

A temple of the Chisan school of Shingon Buddhism, also known as Tenjin-yama Fudo-in. It is counted as the first of the 72 Yakushi (Medicine Buddha) temples in Central Musashi and the 30th site of the Musashi 88 Pilgrimage.

History

It is said that the temple was founded when the 9th abbot of Daiji-ji, Shunkai, liberated the local snakes, established Hebicuchi Shrine, and transferred the Tenjin Shrine from Onaheira to the current location to serve as the guardian shrine of the area. Hebicuchi Shrine was later merged into Higashiiri Nishi Shrine, and its sacred object is now enshrined in the Yakushi Hall of this temple.
