History
It was founded in 1606 CE (Keichō 11) in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture, to enshrine the spirit of Daikōji Yōei, the head priest of Ryugan-in. The temple buildings were destroyed by fire in 1866 CE (Keiō 2). It was relocated to its current site and revived during the tenure of Chigen-in Nittai in 1878 CE (Meiji 11). The current main hall was rebuilt in 1931 CE (Shōwa 6).
