During the Meiji era, devotion to Naritasan Shinshō-ji grew among the people of Osaka. The plan for the Osaka branch temple began when the younger brother of the Governor of Osaka requested its establishment. With a donation from Hankyu Electric Railway, Myōō-in, a sub-temple of Konō-ji, was relocated in 1934, and Naritasan Osaka Betsuin Myōō-in was founded.
