🛡️ 厄除け🙏 心願成就

Located in Samukawa Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, this ancient shrine has long been deeply revered by the Imperial Court and samurai families as the Ichinomiya (head shrine) of the former Sagami Province. The enshrined deities are Samukawa-hiko-no-Mikoto and Samukawa-hime-no-Mikoto, collectively known as Samukawa Daimyojin. Records indicate that offerings were presented during the reign of Emperor Yuryaku (456–479 CE), and it is said that the shrine buildings were established in 727 CE (Shoki 4), giving it a history of approximately 1,600 years. Known as the guardian deity of the 'Happo-yoke' (protection from all eight directions), which is unique nationwide, the shrine is famous for prayers that ward off misfortunes related to land layout, house orientation, directions, and dates, thereby inviting good fortune. Historical military leaders such as Minamoto no Yoritomo, Takeda Shingen, and successive generations of the Tokugawa family held it in high esteem, and it continues to attract many visitors from across Japan annually.
