History
Founded in 1537 CE (Bunmei 6) by Sozen Kenso, the sixth patriarch of the head temple, Joraku-ji. The temple complex was destroyed by fire in 1772 CE (An'ei 1) but was rebuilt over the following five years. The mountain name is Gekkazan, derived from the beautiful moon views.
