History
The creation of the shrine was decided in 1929 (Showa 4) to honor the virtues of Nabeshima Naomasa, the 10th lord of the Saga Domain. In 1933 (Showa 8), the shrine buildings were constructed at the current site, and the spirit of Naomasa was transferred from Matsubara Shrine. It was designated as a special official shrine (Bekaku Kanpeisha). In 1948 (Showa 23), the spirit of Nabeshima Naonaga, the 11th lord, who had been enshrined at Matsubara Shrine, was also co-enshrined here.
