In 1909 CE (Meiji 42), it was merged with other village shrines and renamed Sakamoto Jinja. It was designated as a Koshinsha (shrine receiving imperial offerings) in 1933 CE (Showa 8). The main hall (honden) dates back to the Tensho period, while the worship hall (haiden) was constructed in 1919 CE (Taisho 8) after trees within the precincts were cut down.
