History

During the late Heian period, when Minamoto no Yoritomo's prayers led to the establishment of Ise Shrine lands in the Kanto region, there may have been a place of worship here prior to that. During the Edo period, it was known as Komagome Shinto Shrine and was revered as the chief guardian deity (so-chinjū) of Komagome Village. The shrine was destroyed by fire in the 1945 air raids but was rebuilt in 1954 through the dedication of its parishioners.
