History
The shrine enshrines Sarutahiko Ookami. While the details of its founding are unknown, it is said that the deity was transferred from a location where Taira no Kiyomori prayed for the success of a difficult enterprise. After suffering war damage and undergoing urban planning changes, the shrine reached its current site. The ceiling of the worship hall (haiden) features a painting by Mori Tsukigiro, and the main hall (honden) is adorned with sculptures by Shinya Hideo. In 1873 CE (Meiji 6), it was designated as a village shrine, and after the war, it became a shrine under the jurisdiction of the Association of Shinto Shrines.
