It is believed that the shrine was founded before 1160 CE through the enshrinement of kami from Kyoto's Yasaka Shrine, but historical records were lost, leaving details unclear. In the 9th year of the Kyoho era (1724 CE), the shrine was relocated due to changes in the road layout. It was destroyed during World War II and subsequently moved to Hirano-cho after the war ended. Finally, in the 1st year of the Heisei era (1989 CE), it returned to its current location.
