History
The temple was founded in 1601 CE (Keicho 6) when Shinjuin Nichii became the founding abbot and received the land in Imado. It was relocated to its current site in Higashi-Asakusa in 1681 CE (Enpou 9). During the Meiji era, the Kaimyou School was established within the temple grounds, becoming one of the precursors to the later Higashi-Asakusa Elementary School.
