History
It is said to have been founded in 1440 CE (Eikyo 12) by the local powerful clan member, Narita Gyobu Shoho Kengyo, as Hirata Seissha. Narita's 15th generation, Chinta, mourned Kengyo's death and established a temple named Hirata-yama Seizenji. It was revived in 1533 CE (Bunmei 2) by Narita's 16th generation, Chota. The following year, the 5th abbot of Narita Ryu-enji, Soza, was invited to serve as the founding monk.
