History
Founded in 1410 CE (Oei 17) by Kakou Soden, the son of Uesugi Noriaki, it was originally called Sekikoan. It flourished under the patronage of the Ueda Nagao clan and the Uesugi clan, but was repeatedly destroyed by war and fire. During the Kanbun era, it was relocated to its current site and renamed Sekikoji.
