History
In 1889 CE (Meiji 22), Fujimoto Yu-kyo was sent to Ashio Town at the request of Furukawa Hachibe. The temple's registration was transferred from Tsukiji Hongan-ji, and it was named Mu-ryō-zan Sen'nen-ji (Sen'nen-ji on Mount Muryo). In 1980, following the closure of the Ashio Copper Mine, the temple grounds were relocated to the site of the former Tsu-do Set-kyo-sho (a preaching hall).
