As an Engishiki-designated shrine, it was renamed Shibaki Shrine during the shrine reforms of 1873 (Meiji 6), but its original name, Shiba Marabime Shrine, was restored in 1879 (Meiji 12) upon request. In 1883 (Meiji 16), it was classified as a Kotaijinja (village shrine).
