History
Founded in 1616 CE (Genna 2) by Inaba Masakatsu. It was originally located beneath the Yushima Tenjin Kiritori (a narrow passageway), but was destroyed by fire in the Meireki Fire of 1657 and relocated to its current site. The temple's mountain name, 'Shikkazan' (White Flower Mountain), derives from a historical anecdote in which Niwa Yasumichi visited the grounds, appreciated the cherry blossoms, and composed a poem.
