Emperor Jimmu

History

In March of Meiji 5 (1872), the site was designated at Hyakuban-chi, Shiraishi Village. After Sapporo Shrine relocated to Maruyama, its former main hall was moved to this location to serve as the new shrine building. The origins trace back to Iwamura Michitoshi of the Development Commission, who received a divided spirit from Kashihara Jingu and established it as the guardian deity of Shiraishi Village. Takahashi Wataru, a subordinate official, served as the head priest.
