〒420-0821 静岡県静岡市葵区柚木366
This shrine enshrines approximately 76,000 souls of those who died in battle or sacrificed their lives from Shizuoka Prefecture or with ties to the region, spanning from the Meiji Restoration to the Greater East Asia War.
History
Founded in 1899 (Meiji 32) as the 'Kyosai Shokonzaka' (Joint Sacrifice Soul-Calling Shrine) through joint efforts of government and citizens in Kita-banchō, Shizuoka City. It was renamed 'Shizuoka Sengen Shrine' in 1939 (Shōwa 14). The shrine was relocated to its current site with new construction in 1942 (Shōwa 17). After the war, it was established as a religious corporation and added to the list of Hyakumeisha (shrines listed in the supplementary table of the Engishiki) in 1953 (Shōwa 28).
