History
Established in 1690 as Shizuyama Higashimuki-in Zengyoji in accordance with the last will of Toda Ukonishi, the lord of Ogaki Domain. On this occasion, the temple converted to the Jodo-shu sect under the leadership of the monk Chogyo Hozen of Ento-ji. Within the temple grounds, a wooden statue of Ukonishi and a monument honoring the swordsmith Shizu Saburo Kanesuke are enshrined.
