History
It is said that the shrine was founded in the early 17th century when spoil from the excavation of the Sanzaemon Canal formed a small hill upon which the shrine was established. During the Bunka era, it was known as Tenmangu or Banshu Akashi Tsutenjin Shrine. In February of the 7th year of Meiji (1874 CE), it was classified as a village shrine. Today, the surrounding area has become a canal park, serving as a spiritual center for local residents.
