A Shingon Chisan-ha Buddhist temple located in Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. It is also the 40th station of the Musashi Province 88 Sacred Sites pilgrimage.
History
Founded in 1436 by the priest Hoin Shuko, based on a pre-existing 'Goma Hall' (fire ritual hall) in the area. The temple later adopted the name 'Shogunji' during the tenure of its sixth abbot, Youei of Chouenbo. In 1591, Tokugawa Ieyasu granted the temple a land holding of 3 koku.
