The date of founding is unknown. During the Edo period, it served as the tutelary deity of Idogadani Village and was enshrined within the grounds of the adjacent Jorenji Temple. Following the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the Meiji era, it was separated from the temple and became a village shrine. In 1909, it was merged with Shumei Shrine, Kumano Shrine, Juusho Shrine, Dozogan, Hakusan Shrine, and Ashikone Shrine.
