History
Around 400 CE, during the reign of Emperor Nintoku, it was enshrined as a protective deity for the villa of Princess Hata. In 1778 CE (An'ei 7), it received a branch enshrinement from Fushimi Inari Taisha (Fushimi Inari Grand Shrine) and became an Inari shrine. There are traditions of offerings made by retainers of Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Matsudaira Tadanori. Today, it is affectionately known as 'Suwayama no Inari-san'.
