In 1323 CE (Genkyo 3), Soma Magorosuke Shigetsune, upon relocating to this area during a change of domain, established a shrine to enshrine the Myoken deity as the clan's tutelary god. The Soma family were devout followers of Myoken faith, and the domain lords brought the Myoken deity from the Kozuke region to be enshrined on the grounds, which serves as the origin of this shrine.
