History
Originally founded as a subsidiary shrine of Kiyomizu Hachiman Shrine, a shrine was built on the site of Mount Taima where Kiyomizu Hachiman Shrine had previously stood. Due to damage caused by a wind disaster in 1869 (Meiji 2), the enshrined kami were moved to the main shrine until a new building was constructed in 1891 (Meiji 24). In 1928 (Showa 3), it was designated as a village shrine, and it continues to be worshipped today as a subsidiary shrine of Kiyomizu Hachiman Shrine.
