明応5年に鹿子木親員が上代城の鎮守として伏見稲荷神社から稲荷大明神を勧請したのが始まり。江戸時代に海蔵寺の首座義本氏が再興の啓示を受け、寛文元年に現在地へ社殿を再建・遷座した。明治維新の際に現在の名称となり、昭和41年に神社本庁の別表神社となった。
