It is a paired shrine with Sagiya Hachiman Shrine, which was built first; consequently, Takamatsu Hachiman Shrine is also known as Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine (the younger Hachiman shrine). In 1872 CE (Meiji 5), it was designated as a village shrine of Kami-Nerima Village.
