Takase Shrine, Shin-sanshuuden

The exact date of its founding is unknown, but it is said to have originated when Ōnagiatsumi (a deity of agriculture and medicine) settled his own soul (mitama) in this location as a Kogami (national spirit deity). During the Sengoku (Warring States) period, the shrine fell into ruin due to warfare, but in the Edo period it received strong protection and reverence from the Maeda clan, the daimyō of Kaga Domain. In the Meiji era, it was designated a Kensha (prefectural shrine), and in the Taishō era, it was ranked as a Kokhei Shōsha (minor national shrine). After World War II, it became a Betsubyou Jinja (a shrine listed in a separate government table).
