In the early modern period, it was venerated as the guardian deity of the Kishu (northeast) direction of Tsuyama Castle in Mimasaka Province, and was widely revered as the 'Taki pilgrimage' until the Meiji era. During the Meiji period, the approach path was converted into a military training ground, leading to the construction of a remote worship site (Yōhaiso) in the Taishō era.
