This keyhole-shaped tomb dates to the middle Kofun period. The mound is constructed in three stages and is the sixth largest in Hyogo Prefecture. Based on excavated artifacts, it is presumed that numerous cylindrical haniwa (clay figurines) were arranged along the outer ditch. It is also recorded in the 'Hakkeni Kuni Fudoki' (Hakkeni Province Fudoki) as the setting for the tragic love story of Nejime and two princes.
