In 1871 (Meiji 4), it was elevated to the rank of Kokubei Shasha (minor state-sponsored shrine), and in 1915 (Taisho 4), it was further promoted to Kokubei Chusha (medium state-sponsored shrine). In 1205 (Kenkyu 6), Jien donated the shrine buildings and tax-exempt fields for the reconstruction of Todaiji Temple.
