Based on this tradition, a small shrine was built during the Enkyu period to enshrine this sleeve as the 'Mikata no Mizue' (Shadow of the Sleeve), marking the founding of the shrine. Until the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the Meiji era, it was managed as a subsidiary temple of Oyamazaji.
