History
In 1616 CE (Genna 2), the temple was relocated to its current site from the Tsurusuo Shigusa area upon the completion of Yoshioka Castle. Within the temple grounds lies the grave of Date Kawai-no-kami Munemune, the lord of Yoshioka Castle, as well as a memorial stupa for those who died in loyalty and for Iizaka no Kyoku, Munemune's adoptive mother.
