The shrine's origins date back to 1526 CE (Daiei 6), when Priest Goe discovered the divine body of Ototachibana-no-Mikoto at a water source within the village. He built a thatched hut and enshrined a branch spirit from Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine. In 1593 CE (Bunroku 1), Nenyo, the founder of Gokeiji Temple, established the Hachiman Shrine. It was relocated to its current site in 1688 CE (Genroku 1). The shrine buildings were reconstructed in 1855 CE (Ansei 2).
