History
Until the Edo period, it was known as Fumi Daimyojin. It was originally located on Fuki Island at the tip of Hachimani Misaki, but after being swept away by a tsunami in 1599 CE (Keicho 4), it was rebuilt in Miyanoya. In 1659 CE (Manji 2), it was established at its current location. With the promulgation of the shrine rank system in 1871 CE (Meiji 4), it was designated as a Goshu (village shrine) enshrining the deity Amenohohi. The current shrine buildings were constructed in 1849 CE (Kaye 2).
