Torikoshi Shrine

台東区鳥越2丁目4−1

4.2(1611)

A shrine established over a thousand years ago. The grounds feature komainu (lion-dog statues), and a festival with a mikoshi (portable shrine) is held in the summer.

What visitors say

A serene shrine located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, with well-maintained grounds. One of its highlights is the powerful statue of the komainu. Every June, the Torikoshi Festival is held, featuring a massive mikoshi that boasts one of the greatest weights in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Goshuin (shrine seal stamps) are available at the main hall and other locations, provided as pre-written copies.
