Tsuchi Jinja

4.3(1601)

This shrine enshrines Masayuki Hosokawa, the first daimyo of the Aizu Domain, and serves as a branch shrine of Iwaki Jinja. Within the precincts lie Masayuki's tomb (Oku no In) and the Tsuchi Reijin Monument, which commemorates his achievements.

History

What visitors say

The shrine grounds, which make use of the mountain's natural setting, offer vibrant autumn foliage and a tranquil atmosphere. Magnificent momiji (Japanese maple) trees stand near the large torii gate. The well-maintained grounds, decorated with windmills, are popular with families visiting with children or celebrating Shichi-Go-San (a traditional festival for children aged seven, five, and three). Temporary parking is also available, making it easy to visit.
