History
The shrine has been enshrined since prehistoric times in Tsuno-go, Uda District, worshipped as Ufuno-Ookami. During the reign of Emperor Heizei, it was relocated to its current site where the shrine buildings were constructed. After suffering damage from earthquakes, it was revived by the Ikoma clan. In 1894 (Meiji 27), it was designated as a prefectural shrine (Kenchu).
