History
Founded in the late Heian period during the Daiji era by the monk So-gen. Later, Takamine Kinnichi (the National Preceptor of the Buddha's Country) rebuilt it as a Rinzai Zen temple with Hojo Tokiyoshi serving as its great patron. In the sixth year of the Tensho era, the temple converted to the Myoshin-ji branch of the Rinzai school. Today, it continues to operate as an independent temple and training monastery.
