History
Traditionally said to have been founded during the Ninna era (885-889 CE), it is the deity of childbirth for Nirasaki City. In 1583, a landslide caused by a violent storm destroyed the shrine buildings, leading to their reconstruction at the current location two years later. Since then, the shrine has reached its present form through the confirmation of shrine lands by the Tokugawa family and numerous renovations.

What visitors say
This is a quiet shrine located close to the train station. To receive a Goshuin (a shrine's calligraphic seal stamp), you can call out to the building at the far end of the stairs when no one is present. The shrine grounds are beautiful with dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, and a parking lot is available. During Hatsumode (the first shrine visit of the New Year), they sometimes serve local wine or sacred sake.
