Yamabe Shrine
東近江市下麻生町214
Known as a shrine enshrining Yamabe Akito, it is believed to be the place where Akito ended his life.
History
The date of founding is unknown, but the shrine was later established as a mausoleum for Akito at the place where he ended his life. During the Edo period, it is said to have been a Ujigami (local tutelary deity) that called itself Komatsu Daimyojin and used a pine tree as a Shinnoki (sacred tree). In 1876, it was designated as a Mura-ya (village shrine) and renamed to its current name.
