History
In 1522 CE (Taiō 2), the third abbot of Daizen-in, Gyōgen Hōshi, enshrined deities from Atago Shrine in Kyoto and established the shrine within his residence. In 1592 CE (Bunroku 1), the deities of the city, Yasaka, and Inari were combined in a joint enshrinement. Following the Meiji Restoration, the shrine was renamed Atago Shrine. After the end of World War II, it was relocated to its current site, which was formerly within the precincts of Usa Inari Shrine.
