History
After the death of Nitta Yoshisada in battle, his younger brother Wakiya Yoshisuke governed the Echizen Province and worshipped at Kuzuryu Shrine. Yoshisuke invited the deity Ushitora Tenno (Sutoku Tenno) and built a shrine building. Later, Asakura Toshikage showed reverence to the shrine, and in 1572 CE (Genki 3), Shoren Kakei designated it as his tutelary deity. It was classified as a village shrine in 1876 CE (Meiji 9).
