A temple of the Daigo school of Shingon Buddhism, also known as Kumano-san Myoken-in. It is the 47th station of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage and the 10th station of the Iyo 13 Buddha Pilgrimage.
History
Tradition holds that the temple was founded by En no Gyōja and that in 701 CE (Daihō 1), Ochi Tamaki built the main structures under an imperial edict from Emperor Junwu. In 815 CE (Kōnin 6), Kūkai visited and revitalized the site. During the late Kamakura period, it flourished as a center for Kumano faith. However, it was destroyed by fire during the Tenshō period (1573–1592 CE). It was later rebuilt and revived as a site for Ishizuchi faith and as a station on the Shikoku pilgrimage route.

Located just a few minutes by car from Jōrui-ji, the temple features a spacious parking lot and restrooms. The recently rebuilt main hall and Daishi-dō (Great Master Hall) are exceptionally beautiful.
